About Us.

The Kerala Film Critics Association ( KFCA)is an organisation consists of film critics and writers dedicated to the field of film criticism.
KFCA was formed in the year 1979 by Sri Mannaarkkayam Baby with the passionate support of a group of film enthusiasts, critics and journalists who joined together to promote cinema and critical thinking in Kerala.

KFCA is one of the prominent film critics' associations in India, specially focused on Malayalam cinema.

The KFCA comprises members who are actively involved in reviewing and analyzing Malayalam Films, writing articles, and providing critical insights into the filmmaking process. The association aims to uphold the standards of film criticism, promote quality cinema, and contribute to the development of the Malayalam film industry.

The KFCA organizes events, discussions, and seminars on film-related topics to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of cinema. We also conduct film festivals and screenings that showcase acclaimed movies and provide a platform for emerging filmmakers. One of the significant initiatives of the Kerala Film Critics Association is the annual KFCA awards, also known as the Kerala Film Critics Awards. These awards recognise excellence in various categories, such as best film, best director, best actor, best actress, and more. These awards are determined through the collective opinions and evaluation of selected jury members.

The Kerala Film Critics Association plays a critical role in shaping public opinion about Malayalam cinema by providing critical analysis and evolution of films. Our views and discussions contribute to the cinematic discourse and help audiences make informed choices about the movies they watch.

Overall, the KFCA serves as a platform for film critics and writers in Kerala to come together, exchange ideas and contribute to the growth and appreciation of Malayalam Cinema.
